Arsene Wenger has played down speculation suggesting Arsenal are interested in signing Southampton striker Rickie Lambert, ahead of tomorrow night's Premier League clash at St Mary's.
TalkSPORT reports how the England international had been linked with a surprise move to north London, to act as cover for first-choice frontman Olivier Giroud.
Lambert's future on the south coast has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, however, the Gunners boss has denied any interest in bringing the 31-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.
"We had a look at him in the Championship, but no interest [now]," admitted Wenger, in Monday's pre-match press conference.
Arsenal travel to Southampton on Tuesday evening, looking to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League table, with three points against Mauricio Pochettino's side.
Lambert will face a late fitness test ahead of the game, after missing Saturday's 2-0 victory over Yeovil in the FA Cup through injury, while former Saint Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could face his former club after successfully coming through the Gunners' 4-0 win against Coventry City on Friday.
