GiveMeSport is planning to launch in the US and expand its UK operation after receiving further investment from strategic partner IMG.

The company, which first collaborated with the global sports, fashion and media company one year ago, has announced its intention to grow the UK team, as well as open a US office and US edition of the site in early 2014.

"This is an important and exciting step for GiveMeSport and strengthens the partnership with IMG, with the plan to make GiveMeSport one of the leading sports websites in the world, not just Europe," said Nick Thain, Chief Executive Officer for GiveMeSport.

Jae Chalfin, Founder, added: "Over the last year GiveMeSport has emerged as one of the UK's leading sports publishers. As the content universe continues to grow, companies like ours are thriving like never before.

"IMG's recent investment allows us to continue building on the success and unique position we have created."

Dedicated to providing sports fans with the news that they want to read, GiveMeSport is already supported by several high profile sports stars, including Wayne Rooney, Kevin Pietersen, Rio Ferdinand and Tom Daley.

In addition to the stars of today on the field, GiveMeSport is also investing in the stars of tomorrow off it, and with the help of IMG's funding has been able to launch its very own Writing Academy, designed to help train budding young journalists and sports writers, providing them with a platform to publish articles, and offer behind the scenes access to the world of sport.

"Over the last two years the partnership with IMG has strengthened the position of GiveMeSport as the market leaders in digital new media in sports," explained Chairman, Roger Mitchell.

"The move into the US with our partners opens a very exciting new chapter in our development and will offer new opportunities to both GiveMeSport and IMG."

Reflecting on the latest developments of this blossoming partnership, Senior Vice President of IMG Media, Ben Nicholas enthused: "The expansion of GiveMeSport is an exciting one and one that IMG is keen to invest in.

"We believe the business has a bright future and plan to provide the support necessary to continue the growth and success of the company."
