Chelsea are considering a move for Florian Thauvin after scouting the Marseille starlet at the weekend, according to reports.

Le 10 Sport cites local reports when claiming that a member of the Blues staff was present in Monaco on Sunday, watching the hosts claim a 2-0 win over L’OM.

Guy Hillion's eyes were reportedly set on Thauvin, a player who has also drawn the attention of both Manchester United and Arsenal in the recent past.

Reports in England in December claimed the Red Devils were set to go head-to-head with the Blues for the player after impressing in-front of scouts in the Champions League.

A move to Old Trafford must now be considered unlikely though, after David Moyes added Spanish playmaker Juan Mata to his Manchester United squad at the weekend.

The Blues have also signed Mohamad Salah, but if the report is to be believed, then Jose Mourinho continues to monitor Europe’s hot prospects with the hope of strengthening his squad further in the transfer window.

21-year-old Thauvin has represented France at multiple youth levels, and respected journalist Daniel Riolo claims that an offer of €20million could be enough to bring the player to Chelsea.

“If there is an offer to €20m, Thauvin will raise hell to go,” he said, according to the paper.

Mourinho has just days to conclude his business, if he does indeed wish to add Thauvin to the Chelsea ranks at Stamford Bridge.
