With the transfer deadline fast approaching on Friday night, Liverpool's transfer policy again comes under scrutiny as they look to bolster their squad.
Recently another target, this time Mohamed Salah who went to Chelsea from Basel, slipped through the fingers of Brendan Rodgers who perhaps didn't value him quite as highly as Jose Mourinho.
Since new Liverpool owner John W Henry arrived in 2012, the Merseyside outfit have become more disciplined in the transfer market and haven't paid over the odds for players.
However, if they are to continue on with the good form they've showed this season, they will need to increase the size and quality of their squad.
The Reds have proven they can spend on deadline day. In the summer window, three players were brought in on the final day. Mamadou Sakho, Tiago Ilori and Victor Moses (loan) all made the switch to Anfield.
