QPR boss Harry Redknapp has declared his interest in bringing Manchester United starlet Will Keane to Loftus Road on loan, according to reports.
The youngster, fresh from a successful loan at Championship outfit Wigan, has shown impressive development over the past few months and it’s believed that Redknapp sees him as the ideal replacement for the recently injured Charlie Austin.
The Rs lost top-goalscorer Austin, who has netted 15 times in all competitions this campaign, to a shoulder injury which will see him sidelined for a “prolonged period.” As such Redknapp is keen to bolster his frontline as he looks to lead his side back to the Premier League at the first time of asking through automatic promotion.
The former Tottenham boss said: “He’s a good young player and someone we’re interested in.”
David Moyes may see the potential deal as an ideal way for Keane to get yet more experience, with a view to moulding him into a striker who can compete for a United spot in years to come.
With Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck all fighting for the same position at Old Trafford it’s unlikely Keane will be afforded much, if any, game-time were he to remain in Manchester this season.
