Manchester United striker Robin van Persie wants a shock summer return to Arsenal, reports The Daily Mail.

Van Persie, who scored in the Red Devils' 2-1 defeat against Stoke City yesterday afternoon, is reportedly unhappy at Old Trafford and has set his sights on re-joining the Gunners in the next transfer window.

The Dutchman has struggled for injuries in this campaign and has had a difficult season under David Moyes.

Reports have suggested that the Manchester United striker hasn't taken to the Moyes regime at the Theatre of Dreams and remains upset that Sir Alex Ferguson left the club at the end of last season.

And now it appears that the forward wants to return to the Emirates under Arsene Wenger.

It has been reported that the Arsenal boss will have to pay Manchester United in the region of the £15m for Van Persie's services this summer.

It remains to be seen as to whether Arsenal will make a move for Van Persie in the next market, however it appears that his time at Manchester United could be coming to an end.

Arsenal's immediate attention will turn to their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace this afternoon as they look to return to the top of the table.
