The draw for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup was made today and the United States team look to have avoided many of the quality sides in the draw.

Team USA will face New Zealand, Finland, Ukraine, Dominican Republic and Turkey. All of their group stage games will be held in Bilbao.

NBA stars, Kevin Durant and Kevin Love have already pledged their commitment to the team for the tournament and further players should also join up depending on their team commitments.

Spain are expected to be the USA's main rivals with stars such as Pau Gasol and Ricky Rubio plus a home-court advantage.

Argentina and Brazil are also set to contend in the later rounds along with Greece and Turkey.

The United States are the reigning champions of the basketball world. They won the world championship in 2010 and added an Olympic gold medal in 2012.

The World Cup will take place in Spain between the 30th August and 14th September this year.
