Patrick van Aanholt has held secret talks with Chelsea regarding his future with the club, reports talkSPORT.
The Blues defender, who is currently on loan at Dutch outfit Vitesse, has been in fine form this season and wants to fight for his place at the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Having been loaned out on five occasions by the Premier League outfit, reports have suggested he will hold further discussions with the club at the end of the season.
And the player has insisted he wants to stay and develop at Stamford Bridge, despite other clubs being interested in his services.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, he said: "Even if I was the number 12, I'd rather stay. It's about playing and developing," he said.
"I still think Chelsea are a nice club but with their millions, there's so many (players) they can buy. It makes the chance to really break through as a young talent quite small."
However it remains to be seen as to whether the youngster will be part of Jose Mourinho's plans next season. The youngster appears desperate to play first-team football for Chelsea and the club could yet give him a chance to star.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will currently be in high spirits after watching his side beat title rivals Manchester City 1-0 at the Etihad last night.
