Steve Nash has announced his NBA comeback for the Lakers in spectacular style with an awesome assist that allowed Wesley Johnson to make an epic dunk.

The play happened early in the first quarter of the Lakers road game against the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday night, and it signifies the ability Nash still has so close to his 40th birthday.

Nash picked up a loose ball deep in his own end and then proceeded to accelerate up court, before providing a sick deep pass for Johnson to get airborne and smash home.

The former Phoenix Suns legend has been out since November 10th with a nerve root irritation in his lower back, which had led Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni to contemplate whether the five-time NBA assists leader should retire.

Many commentators question whether Nash can ever really get back to anywhere near his classic standard for the Suns, but with assists like the video above shows, maybe there is life in the old dog yet.
