Cleveland Browns new offensive coach Kyle Shanahan has admitted he's glad to be going it alone with the Browns.

Shanahan is the son of former Denver Broncos Super Bowl winning coach Mike Shanahan, and they both spent an unsuccessful time at the Washington Redskins, which commented last month.

Ready to try and go for broke on his own, Kyle insists this charge will be good for his career progression.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge. I have worked a lot of years in the NFL. It was a goal of mine when I started out that I would prove myself before I coached with my Dad, and I did that," said Kyle Shanahan.

"I started at UCLA, then went to Tampa before I had four good years with Houston. Working with my Dad was something I always wanted to do."

The Browns have completed changed their whole front office organisation, with Mike Pettine coming in as the head coach for the 2014 season.

They also have the fourth overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, which could see them pick either Johnny Manziel or Teddy Bridgewater, with Shanahan admitting 'who wouldn't want Manziel.'
