With Nemanja Vidic announcing that he will be leaving Manchester United at the end of the 2013/14 season, Red Devils boss David Moyes' search for a replacement surely must begin immediately.
Ukrainian defender Yaroslav Rakytskiy is a player who ticks all the boxes and would be a good choice to be wearing the red shirt next season.
The Shakhtar Donetsk man is only 24-years of age, has European experience and is already a four time top flight champion in his native Ukraine. The tough tackling hard man has bags of quality and has been a target for Barcelona in the past.
Eliaquim Mangala is already a Manchester United target and could be on his way to Old Trafford from Portuguese champions Porto at the end of the season. The 22-year-old French international is seen as one for the future, but already has top flight and European experience and could possibly fit right in.
A less realistic target would be PSG's Brazilian defender Thiago Silva. He has proven himself to be one of the best in world football and at the age of 29, looks to still have his best years ahead of him. Silva is already a complete player and if he could be lured from Parc De Princes it would take a hefty transfer fee as well as a large contract to make him a Red Devil.
Another long shot, but probably the best possible Vidic replacement, is Real Madrid's 20-year-old France international Raphael Varane. Varane has become a permanent fixture in the Real Madrid squad of late and always looks confident and composed in the Los Blanco's defence.
