Liverpool have made a surprise bid for Wolfsburg midfielder Tola Cigerci, according to reports.
The Metro claims that the Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been tracking the Germany U19 international during his spell on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin, and has been impressed with what he’s seen.
According to reports in Germany, Liverpool have made an offer of £2million to ensure an agreement is made between themselves and Wolfsburg for a transfer at the end of the season.
Rumours suggest that Hertha are planning on making his move a permanent one at the end of the season, and so Rodgers has made a pre-emptive offer to get his man.
Cigerci, who is deployed usually as a defensive midfielder, could well help to add both depth and quality to the current Liverpool side, who many well be playing in the Champions League next year if they can achieve a top four finish.
Fans of the Reds will be hoping that this transfer saga doesn’t take the same turn as the one which saw them miss out on Ukrainian talent Yevhen Konoplyanka, who remained at Dnipro despite reports claiming he was all set to join Liverpool in the January transfer window.
