Serie A outfit Parma are interested in bringing Manchester United outcast Federico Macheda back to Italy, according to reports in Italy.

The 22-year-old has failed to hold down a regular first-team place since he was plucked away from Lazio in 2007.

Macheda famously scored on his debut for Manchester United against Aston Villa - but has only managed to score four more goals since his late winner against the Claret and Blue outfit.

The Italian striker has been loaned out to five different sides since he moved to Manchester United - with the 22-year-old currently enjoying a temporary spell at Birmingham City.

Macheda has hit the ground running at St Andrew's by scoring three goals in two games for his new side.

The striker's current deal at Old Trafford runs out at the end of the season so Parma could sign Macheda on a free transfer.

Parma are currently eighth in Serie A, having won eight of their 22 games so far this season.
