Matt Ryan will never be an elite QB, says NFL fans poll

Former Atlanta Falcons tight-end Tony Gonzalez recently revealed he thinks that Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is 'not elite', and now it seems like NFL fans agree with him.

A poll online suggests that fans think that not only is Ryan not elite right now, but that he never will be and will always stay as the QB that was almost good enough.

On Monday, during a chat with Colin Cowherd of ESPN Radio, Gonzalez addressed the matter again, after he had said the previous day that Ryan was amongst the "Second class of QBs: Ryan, Rivers, Newton, Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson."

Now Gonzalez made sure to clarify that the comments were not meant as a dig to the quarterback, but they are sure to have not gone down well with Ryan.

The whole 'elite' or not saga then took another twist today when a poll appeared online.

0% of fans agreed that the Falcons QB is elite right now, which is not a surprise.

However, 70% of fans believe he'll always be the guy that was almost good enough, like the Falcons as a whole.

It will be interesting to see how the Falcons go next season after a shocking 4-12 record in 2013, one year after hosting the NFC Championship Game.

One things for sure, Ryan has plenty to prove fans and former team-mates.
