Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to ensure Real Madrid progressed into the final of the Copa del Rey, but the encounter with Atletico Madrid was marred by an incident which saw the Ballon d’Or winner struck with a lighter.
The Portugal captain registered a first-half brace, with both his goals coming from the penalty spot, but things turned nasty as he strode towards the tunnel at the interval. Ronaldo was hit on the head by an object thrown from the crowd, which resulted in the player collapsing to the ground.
Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos was visibly shocked by the incident, which left Ronaldo requiring medical attention before he got back to his feet and headed into the dressing room.
Ronaldo was deemed fit enough to continue and remained on the pitch before being replaced by Jese Rodriguez after 75 minutes played. Madrid won the tie 5-0 on aggregate, and look likely to play Barcelona in the final with the Catalans 2-0 up against Real Sociedad.
