Miami Heat superstar LeBron James couldn't really put it off any longer. For the umpteenth time in he has refused to take part in the All-Star dunk contest, much to the disappointment of fans everywhere.
So when asked about his snub to taking part in New Orleans next weekend, the reigning MVP explained why, reported by Bleacher Report:
"Calling himself “not easy to persuade these days,” James laughed when asked why he was against it.
“I’m not against it,” he said. “I just don’t want to do it. Do I have to be against something because I don’t want to do it.”
So why not?
“I don’t know,” James said. “I don’t know.”
Clearly, there is a reason why James is so against participating in the dunk contest. Many argue that the threat of losing at anything would be damaging to his ego.
Others say that the damage would be to his brand and image. Whilst maybe the fault could possibly be with us, the fans and writers.
Have we hyped up LeBron's dunking ability to such a level that simply whatever he would pull out of the bag would not be enough to satiate our appetite to be entertained.
But still, it shall be another year where King James sits court-side applauding the dunks, without showing what he can do himself.
