Barcelona have placed David Luiz at the top of their summer transfer wish list but fear Jose Mourinho will refuse to do business, reports the Daily Mirror.

Concerns over the long-term fitness of Carles Puyol remain high at the Nou Camp and a replacement is likely to be brought to the club in the summer.

Having originally courted Chelsea star Luiz last summer, Barcelona are preparing to return for the centre-back, valuing him at around £22m.

The frizzy-haired Brazilian has struggled to gain the trust of Mourinho this season, who has championed John Terry and Gary Cahill instead.

Despite Mourinho's sparing use of Luiz, Chelsea are unlikely to be tempted to do business at £22m, reportedly valuing the 26-year-old closer to £30m.

Barcelona also fear that Mourinho will refuse to do business with the Catalan giants at any price because of his past ties with the club.

Mourinho became the pantomime villain at the Nou Camp during his time at Real Madrid and was also employed by the club as a coach early on in his career.

But Barcelona don't want to get drawn into an auction as they also need to replace long-standing goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who is set to leave in the summer.
