Arsenal are close to tying Bacary Sagna down to a new deal, according to Sky Italia.

Several European sides are monitoring Sagna's situation as the Frenchman's current deal runs out at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old right-back is being chased by Serie A giants Inter Milan, however Arsenal remain confident Sagna will sign a new deal before the end of the season.

Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked with making a move for Sagna, however the Frenchman is unlikely to join one of Arsenal's arch-rivals.

Inter Milan are said to be chasing a number of Premier League stars who are out of contract in the summer - with Sagna's fellow countryman Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic also on Walter Mazzarri's summer wishlist.

Arsene Wenger revealed earlier today that Arsenal's contract talks with Sagna was an 'ongoing process'.

Sagna could be rested for Arsenal's FA Cup clash against Liverpool on Sunday as Wenger will want the Frenchman fully fit for his side's upcoming Champions League encounter with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
