Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy announced that he’ll be returning to football.

But, fans of the struggling Premier League champions won’t be seeing the Dutchman on the field at Old Trafford in the real world, as the elaborate press conference was in fact to announce his involvement in ‘Play Like a Legend’ for EA Sports and Xbox.

The prolific striker, who is the fourth highest goalscorer in Champions League history, is set to become available for nothing to a select group of FIFA ’14 players on Ultimate Team on the Microsoft console.

“Over the last couple of weeks there were speculations, and I’m here to end them by announcing my comeback into football,” the former Red Devils star told the gathered media (actors).

“What I’m looking for is a club with great chemistry, with great fans and can win trophies. I’m trying to be a part of that by scoring lots of goals.

“I’m ready for it; I’m fitter than ever, I’ve worked hard to get in this situation and I’m ready to sign for a great club.”

FIFA Ultimate Team offers gamers the chance to put together their best team, and with legends mode you can pull together some of the greatest players to have ever played the game.

Cards are rare to get hold of however, and ‘Play Like a Legend’ is offering the chance to get hold of Van Nistelrooy by completing four challenges.

And, if successful, the former Netherlands international could be leading the line for your team against other gamers online.

“There are a few parties interested, but all will be revealed in due course,” his ‘agent’ told the press conference.

It’s an opportunity the very best FIFA ’14 players will want to turn down.
