Denver Broncos running back wants to be number one

The Denver Broncos are coming to a cross roads this off-season. Number one running back Knowshon Moreno is a free agent and the Broncos are still undecided on whether to offer him a new deal or not.

Moreno scored 13 touchdowns altogether last season and rushed for over a thousand yards as Denver won the AFC Championship title.

But the Broncos could be looking to spend Moreno's contract on strengthening different areas of the team and putting the cash into other free agent's new deals.

The loss of Moreno would not be a massive loss however as they already have a ready to start back up waiting in the wings.

Montee Ball, a second-round pick last year, ran for 559 yards and four touchdowns as a complement to Moreno. He says he’s ready for a bigger role if that’s what the Broncos have in mind.

“Of course, obviously I have no idea what’s going to happen with him and this organization, but I do want to be a starter, and yeah, I want the football every time,” Ball told the Denver Post.

“I think I’m going to have a great offseason, and I’m going to have a better season next year for sure...And I'm going to play a huge role in next year's success, and I'm really looking forward to it."

Ball is extremely confident in his own ability, and from what he has shown so far in the NFL, then maybe it isn't misplaced at all.
