The 2014 NBA All-Star weekend is being held in New Orleans this time round and the TNT Sports crew are sure to be shacked up in Bourbon Street for the majority of the weekend.

Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal will be in the beautiful south covering the events and they spoke to GiveMeSport about all things all-star related, the good and the bad sides to the event.

The Big Shaqtus was the first to speak up and he was as outspoken as ever. The 15-time all-star said he was disappointed at the state that the Dunk Contest has now found itself in.

"The dunk contest stinks." Shaq said. "It's full of nobody players that the fans don't know and it's lost it's appeal. I remember as a kid when it was a major attraction and i looked forward to it every year."

"It needs to go back to like it was. Get it back like Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins going against each other and having battles. I saw Birdman (Miami Heat's Chris Anderson) in it and he sucked. It took him 50 attempts to do one dunk. That's not cool," a clearly unimpressed O'Neal added.

Charles Barkley was in a more uplifting mood when he was asked his thoughts on how NBA does the All-Star action.

"The NBA all star game, and the whole weekend...we do it the best." the former Sun, Rocket and Sixer said. "Football all star game is terrible, the baseball one is okay, and i've never seen the Hockey one but i just know that the NBA is the best," the 11 time all star stated.

"It's great for the fans as well, most importantly. Everybody has fun: the players, us guys and the fans." Barkley clearly is enjoying his job working the all-star weekend and was yesterday spotted with a terrible singing attempt at Snoop Dogg's 'Gin and Juice'.

All-Star festivities kick off tonight with the Celeb game involving Kevin Hart among others from the world of entertainment, WNBA players, NBA legends and even politicians.

Then you've got the Rising Stars game, skills contest, three point contest, dunk show and then the main event, the East vs West All-Star game itself.

So from everyone here at GMS, enjoy the weekend and for Shaq's sake we hope Paul George, John Wall and co can bring out some impressive moves in the slam dunk competition.
