Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Olympic House of Canada today as he spoke to an array of Canadian athletes, with fans aplenty their to see Putin.

However, it seems an afternoon spent with the Canadian Olympic squad has got Putin down in the dumps and contemplating whether the Sochi Olympics was a waste of money.

The picture above shows Putin in somewhat of a soul searching moment in which he is clearly thinking about whether his Russians can win Olympic ice hockey gold.

The Sochi Olympics has reportedly cost Russia the tidy some of $50 billion dollars, and the figures that have been mentioned have caused quite a stare.

Subsequently, they drew a natural response from US President Barack Obama a couple of weeks ago, who explained that the US would not need to spend so much on an Olympic Games.

All jokes aside, Putin seemed to enjoy meeting the Canadian athletes today as he wished them luck in every discipline but hockey.
