At the start of the season the majority of NBA basketball stars would have been more than happy to find themselves being compared to LeBron James.
The Miami Heat forward has become the kingpin of the sport in recent seasons and, following on from his influential role in his team’s second successive championship win last year, there were very few who would have supported the notion of another player being on par in terms of skill.
Enter Kevin Durant.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know exactly how sensational he’s been for Oklahoma this season and naturally his form has drawn comparisons with the reigning MVP.
How does the man himself feel about this? Somewhat annoyed, according to the NBCSports. Durant may be showing that he’s just as good as James, but he’s apparently become quite bored of hearing about it.
When asked on a scale of one to 10 how tired he was getting with people making connections between himself and his Heat counterpart, Durant replied: “Um, about a 25.
“It’s every day, I mean. You should really focus on how good LeBron James is. I think people should appreciate that more than always comparing guys. In our world, you want to compare everything. You judge everything. That’s just how we are.”
In fairness to the media the race for this year’s MVP achievement has become something of a two horse race, but does Durant’s reaction mean he’s feeling the pressure to match James week in, week out?
