Aaron Ramsey has stepped up his rehabilitation from a thigh injury in an attempt to be fit for next month's clash against Chelsea, reports the Daily Mail.

The midfielder had been the outstanding performer for Arsenal in the first half of the season but has not featured for the club since the 3-1 win against West Ham on Boxing Day.

Ramsey had been set to return at the end of January but further aggravated the problem and was sent on a warm-weather trip to Dubai as a result.

Although originally ruled out for six weeks by Arsene Wenger, there were fears within the club that he would be out for even longer, as doctors struggled to pin down the root of the problem.

After coming through the training schedule in the Middle East, Ramsey has been given the all-clear to step up his rehabilitation and is targeting the title clash against Chelsea as his comeback.

Penciled in for March 22, that would be almost three months since Ramsey featured for Arsenal and may come too late to rescue their title bid.

Arsenal currently sit one point behind Jose Mourinho's men in the league and face a difficult trip to White Hart Lane before visiting Stamford Bridge.
