Lionel Messi stopped by tremendous tackle

Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi proved the difference in last night's Champions League showdown, but not before Vincent Kompany had proved you can stop the Argentine maestro with a tackle of stunning simplicity.

Kompany showed Martin Demichelis how its done by racing out to meet Messi near the halfway line, before timing a block tackle to perfection as he claimed the ball with perfect precision.

Messi went on to score the only goal from the penalty spot after drawing a decisive foul from Demichelis, rendering Kompany's memorable effort redundant in the context of the tie.
