Manchester United starlet Davide Petrucci came close to joining Romanian outfit Cluj on loan at the beginning of February, according to reports in Italy.
The 22-year-old midfielder was on the verge of joining Cluj until the Romanian side pulled the plug on the proposed deal.
Italian starlet Petrucci, who spent the earlier parts of the season on loan at Belgium outfit Royal Antwerp, returned to Manchester United in January in hope that he could break into David Moyes' first-team plans.
However the midfielder has still not registered a first team appearance at the Premier League champions so was prepared to seal a temporary move away from Old Trafford.
Manchester United had entered negotiations with Cluj over Petrucci but told the Romanian side that they wanted a clause that would see the youngster move to Transylvania for £1million, whereas Vasile Miriuţă's side were only prepared to pay £500,000 to sign the former Roma trainee on a permanent deal.
