Former Cleveland Browns GM, Michael Lombardi will travel to the NFL combine with the New England Patriots, according to reports today.

NFL Network reporter, Albert Breer tweeted earlier: "Just boarded for Indy, and with the Patriots contingent is former Browns GM Mike Lombardi."

Lombardi was fired by the Browns last week but reports appeared shortly afterwards linking him with a job in the Patriots front office.

The New England Patriots do not currently have a GM, with veteran head coach Bill Belichick serving as a front office decision maker.

However, it is possible that Lombardi could serve as a personnel advisor in the Patriots organization.

The NFL combine takes place this weekend and is the best opportunity for NFL scouts to observe the upcoming draft class and to conduct interviews with prospective rookies.

Many analysts criticized the Browns for making such a serious front office change this close to the combine and draft, especially considering that Lombardi had only been in the job for a year.

Prior to joining the Browns, Lombardi worked as an analyst for the NFL network.
