Houston Rockets reveal shock over "unhealthy" Dwight Howard

When you think of the average NBA basketball player you probably conjure up the figure of an incredibly tall, athletic American whose whole life is centred around dominating the court. And that’s just the average NBA star.

The likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Dwight Howard are in another bracket entirely. Well, the first three definitely are anyway.

However fans of the Houston Rockets, or the NBA in general, might be surprised to know that following his switch to the franchise back in 2013, Rockets head coach Kevin McHale deemed him terribly unhealthy.

McHale, speaking after his team’s win over Howard’s old team, the Los Angeles Lakers, said: “"He worked hard," said Rockets Coach Kevin McHale.

"When we first got him, the doctors were amazed at how unhealthy he was. He's happier now because he is healthier."

Most would agree that Howard has been far better for the Rockets this season than he was when he first moved to the franchise, and at the moment he’s the main driving force behind their push for the playoffs.
