Manchester United have offered Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos £250,000-a-week in a bid to lure him to Old Trafford, according to the Mirror.

United boss David Moyes is desperate to land a first-class central midfielder this summer, and has identified the 24-year-old Germany international as the ideal signing for his evolving team.

It's believed that Bayern would want at least £30m for Kroos, who scored a superb goal against Arsenal in the Champions League knockout stages last week, while the player could be tempted to quit the Allianz Arena after being offered the chance to treble his wages.

United are expected to spend big at the end of the season after a difficult debut campaign under Moyes, who is likely to keep his job even if the club miss out on a top-four finish.

The Red Devils have also been strongly linked with another Bundesliga midfielder over the weekend: Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan.

However, the Germany international has missed the entire season with a back injury, and there is concern that the 23-year-old may have difficulty making a full recovery during the forthcoming months.
