Barcelona are set to beat Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to the signature of highly-rated Dinamo Zagreb starlet Alen Halilovic, reports talkSPORT.

The 17-year-old midfielder has attracted admiring glances from a host of top European clubs, having impressed in 14 first-team appearances for Ante Cacic's side this season.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been credited with an interest in bringing Halilovic to the Emirates Stadium, while north London rivals Tottenham have also been mooted as potential suitors of a player likened to former White Hart Lane star Luka Modric.

However, it's Barcelona who appear the most likely to secure the talented teenager's signature, after Dinamo president Mirko Barisic confirmed that the club is in talks with Camp Nou officials regarding a summer transfer.

"Executive chairman Zdravko Mamic is in contact with Barcelona representatives," he said in an interview with Jutarnji List. "We at Dinamo want all parties to be satisfied with this transfer.

"Nobody has any guarantee when it comes to the first team of Barcelona. But surely he must safely play in the second team."

Arsenal and Tottenham - along with Borussia Dortmund - have been tracking Halilovic for over a year, but must now turn their attention to alternative playmaker targets, assuming they've been trumped by the Spanish giants.
