Liverpool are unlikely to make a move for Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna, reports The Daily Mail.

Recent reports had suggested that Brendan Rodgers' side were ready to make a summer swoop for the French star, however it now appears that Sagna will not arrive at Anfield ahead of next season.

With a move for Sagna unlikely, the Reds remain keen on tying down a new deal with Glen Johnson.

It remains to be see as to whether Sagna will strike a new deal with Arsenal before the end of the season, but for now his long term future is in doubt.

However, if Liverpool can't agree a new deal with Johnson, then they could target younger options as a replacement for the England international.

For now though, Liverpool and Arsenal's immediate focus will turn towards the Premier League title race.

Liverpool currently sit just three points behind Arsenal, who occupy second place in the league, just one point behind leaders Chelsea.
