San Francisco 49ers tight end, Vernon Davis has hinted at a possible link-up with Jacksonville Jaguars star Maurice Jones-Drew on instagram this week.

Davis posted a picture of himself with the running back along with the caption: "Me and Maurice Jones Drew discussing the FUTURE a few nights ago. #sanfrancisco"

It is at the moment unclear what exactly Davis is referring to, San Francisco of course have a very good running back in Frank Gore who is not out of contract until 2015.

Jones-Drew is a free agent this off-season but it is thought that the star runner, who had over 800 yards rushing last season would fetch a premium price if he tested free agency.

Davis is under contract until 2016 in San Francisco and last year confirmed his status as one of the best tight ends in the league with 850 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.

The 49ers organization was rocked last weekend after the reports that a possible trade for head coach Jim Harbaugh was almost completed by the Cleveland Browns.
