Football News

Dirk Nowitzki received an incredibly lucky bounce before the ball dropped on his buzzer beater to defeat the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden.

Nowtizki was defended closely by Carmelo Anthony and with the time running down, managed to work up a shot which took a favourable bounce around the rim before going in as time expired.

The run of events that finished this game have pretty much summed up the Knicks season.

Down late to the Mavericks on their home court, the crowd was rallied as Carmelo Anthony inspired a comeback before levelling the contest 108-108 with a clutch three pointer.

Anthony had 44 points in the game but the attempt was in vain as the final possession was held by the Mavericks.

An isolation play for Dirk along with a friendly bounce sealed the Knicks fate.
