Arsenal are still pushing hard to sign Iker Casillas from Real Madrid, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
The Spanish goalkeeper is yet to play a minute of La Liga football this season with Carlo Ancelotti opting to using Diego Lopez instead.
Although playing in the Champions League and Copa del Rey, it is believed that the 32-year-old will seek a move away from the Bernabeu if the situation doesn't change.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for the goalkeeper ever since losing his place to Lopez in January last year with Arsene Wenger unsure about Wojciech Szczesny's long-term viability as a number one at the Emirates.
The Pole has since come on leaps and bounds this season keeping 12 clean sheets so far; the joint best total in the Premier League.
But Wenger is still keen on bringing Casillas to the Emirates and has even made initial contact with Casillas' representatives regarding a summer move.
A new goalkeeper will be vital for Arsenal in the summer with Lukas Fabianski likely to depart when his contract expires at the end of June. Similarly, Emiliano Viviano is unlikely to make his loan switch permanent after failing to make an impact in north London.
That leaves Wenger with one recognised goalkeeper in the squad and will need an addition to provide a challenge to Szczesny. Damian Martinez may be promoted to the squad as a third choice.
The acquisition of Casillas is seen as a vital cog in Wenger's plan to make a genuine assault on the Premier League title next year.
