World XI: Summer transfer hits (1)

Although it is only a matter of weeks since the January window slammed shut and left teams to run with what they've got for the rest of the 2013/14 campaign, it is only a few months before the transfer madness will begin once again during the summer.

With Manchester United having severely faltered, Arsenal and Chelsea desperately short of real quality up front and Manchester City in obvious need of defensive strengthening, the next window is sure to be an intriguing and entertaining one for those of you who are lovers of big deals.

However, given that we are currently stuck between transfer windows, we thought it was perhaps time to pause for a little reflection before things get truly hectic and the rumour mill goes into overdrive once again.

So, with that in mind, we decided to cast our minds back to last summer to see just who have proved to be the best signings of that particular window.

We've compiled a list and created an XI  including those players (from all over Europe) and the team can be seen by clicking on above or below. Being the funky and artistic innovators that we are here at GMS, we've opted for a trailblazing/rather unorthodox 3-2-3-2 formation...

Take a look and don't forget to leave us your thoughts below. Do you agree that these are the best signings from last summer's transfer dealings?

Who has been the very best signing?

Or perhaps you feel that one or more of these players does not merit their place in the team? Have we made any glaring omissions? Be sure to let us know!
