World XI: Summer transfer hits (12)

ST: Radamel Falcao

Football News

Unlike the other names on this list, Falcao - who moved from Atletico Madrid to wealthy Ligue 1 side Monaco last year - will not have a chance to sufficiently build upon his impressive start to life at his new club.

This is due to the fact that the Colombian international suffered damage to his anterior cruciate ligament during a cup clash Chasselay Monts d'or Azergues last month.
Having had successful surgery, it looks as if he could have an outside chance of making the World Cup. However Monaco, for whom he netted nine goals in 17 domestic appearances before having his season brought to an abrupt end, will have to do without him for the remainder of the season.
