CM: Fernandinho

Football News

From one Premier League title contender to another, Manchester City parted with a lot of money to bring Fernandinho to the club from Shakhtar Donetsk but, for the most part, the Brazilian has not failed to impress.

Although it is Ivorian powerhouse and midfield partner Yaya Toure who draws most of the plaudits for his all-action displays at the Etihad Stadium, Fernandinho - who has five senior caps for Brazil - has been crucial to the cause and is proving to be a fine box-to-box midfielder at this level.

While it could still perhaps be argued that City overpaid somewhat for a player of 28, he could have an integral role to play in the title race. If he helps Manuel Pellegrini's men to top the Premier League once more, then it will have been worth every penny.
