Kendrick Perkins injury worse than first feared

Football News

Oklahoma City have been dealt a huge blow with the news that Kendrick Perkins will be out for six weeks due to a groin injury.

It was hoped that the injury was only a minor strain, but those early assessments have since been confounded with the left groin injury requiring more time to recover after a medical procedure.

Perkins took a visit to a specialist this week and only at this point was it assessed that the injury was worse than the originally strain diagnoses.

The center sustained the injury during the third quarter February 20th against the Miami Heat. This then forced him to miss Sunday's match-up against the LA Clippers.

This season Perkins has been a strong player for the Thunder with 54 starts.

Thankfully for Perkins it's understood that the procedure was a success, but his six-week absence still remains and is likely to have a detrimental affect on the Thunder's play.
