Champions League: Best XI never to win the tournament (1)

Competition in the Champions League is perhaps fiercer than in any other tournament on the planer, either club or international, given the sheer wealth of star power on show as billionaire-backed teams and traditional continental giants battle for supremacy.

Bayern Munich were victorious in last season's competition, but before that Germany's biggest club had twice lost in the final during an 11-year spell without claiming a European trophy, just to give you an idea of how difficult it is to lift the famous big-eared trophy.

With that in mind GMS has carefully selected an All-Star XI of the best players still desperate to win the Champions League before calling it quits, made up of the 32 times which entered this year's group stages.

Feel free to disagree with my choices below, or if any of the stars mentioned are capable of ending their Champions League hoodoo this season or before their careers end.
