'You can never bet against a guy like that.'

Those are the thoughts of the Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia who believes Derek Jeter will have a big final season with the New York Yankees.

Jeter will retire at the end of the upcoming MLB 2014 season, and the 39-year-old definitely wants to go out with a bang.

Pedroia has been a long time follower of Jeter's game and he has relished the change to go face to face against him year in year out.

Both of them were also team-mates on Team USA in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, moments that Pedroia treasures.

So it should only be right that he insists that Jeter will go out with a bang in his final season.

"Do I think he can do that? Oh, yeah," Pedroia said after a recent workout at the Sox spring camp. "I think he'll hit .320 and if he does, I'm not going to be surprised at all and everyone will be trying to talk him into playing a couple more years.

"You never bet against a guy like that. You can book what he's going to do and if he doesn't do it, it's because he's injured. You can bet that he'll be the Derek Jeter who's done it for 20 years."
