Manchester United and Chelsea will go head to head to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani in the summer, according to reports in France.

Both sides are said to be in the market for a new forward in the summer as Jose Mourinho is not happy with his current striking options.

David Moyes is also willing to splash the cash on a world-class striker at the end of the season as he wants to reshuffle his squad.

Moyes may be forced into spending big on a striker of Cavani's calibre if Robin van Persie decides to leave Old Trafford.

Javier Hernandez also seems to have become disillusioned with life under Moyes having spent the majority of the season on the substitutes' bench.

However Moyes will face a major test from Chelsea to land the £55m-rated striker as Mourinho has made signing a new forward his number one priority.

Manchester United and Chelsea will turn their attention to Diego Costa if they cannot land the Uruguayan international.
