Florida Atlantic have fired their head coach Mike Jarvis, according to ESPN who have multiple sources confirming the departure.

Jarvis had run the Florida college basketball program for the past six seasons and in 2011 they won the National Invitational Tournament on the back of his strong leadership.

He did have one year left on his contract but the Atlantic decided to act now.

Jarvis coached at Boston University, George Washington and St John's in his career.

In 1993 he took GW to the Sweet 16, and he also had success with St John's after taking them to the Elite Eight in 1999.

CBS reported earlier today on Twitter, "Florida Atlantic has reportedly fired head coach Mike Jarvis after six seasons."
