Winston Reid is set to become one of the most sought after players in the Premier League this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

West Ham's star centre-back has been injured for a large part of the season but has only seen his stock grow as a result.

The Hammers have been significantly better defensively with the New Zealand international than without him, highlighting his contribution to Sam Allardyce's team.

The same goes for last season, where he started in 11 of West Ham's 12 clean sheets.

That influence has alerted the Premier League elite, who are set to battle it out for his signature in the summer.

Arsenal, who have been linked with a £6m for Reid in the past, look set to add defensive reinforcements in the summer with Bacary Sagna set to leave. They could also lose club captain Thomas Vermaelen, which would leave Arsene Wenger with just two recognised centre-backs.

Similarly, Manchester United are also set to lose their club captain and star defender Nemanja Vidic in the summer. David Moyes will be looking to rebuild the Red Devils in the summer and could make Reid part of a £200m spending spree.

But both Manchester United and the Gunners must first beat Manchester City, who will undoubtedly be ready to dive deeper into their pockets to secure Reid's signature.

Manuel Pellegrini is still not set on Vincent Kompany's long-term partner at the Etihad and needs to find a replacement for Joleon Lescott, who is set to leave Eastlands in the summer.
