The Montreal Canadiens have placed Goaltender Carey Price on injured reserve with a lower body injury.

Price has traveled with the Candiens on their four game road trip which starts against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night.

From their trip to LA, the Canadiens will visit the Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes and the San Jose Sharks before returning to Montreal.

Price will be able to be activated off injured reserve from Tuesday and the Canadiens seem eager to get him back on the ice.

Montreal coach Michel Therrien said "As soon as the medical staff feels he's ready to start practicing, he's going to go on the ice."

Despite their hurry, Therrien described Price's condition as "day to day.

Price's absence will mean that Peter Budaj will now make his fourth straight start against the Kings while Dustin Tokarski has been called in as backup.

Impressively, the Canadiens have taken five of a possible six points during Price's absence most recently from their dramatic 3-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
