MLS' Jersey Week is well underway and the Chicago Fire have unveiled what they will be wearing for the 2014 season.

The Fire released their new jersey as a part of their Season Kick Off Luncheon in front of 700 fans benefiting the clubs charitable arm, the Chicago Fire Foundation.

From the clubs official website:

“This year’s look is inspired by the fire trucks of City of Chicago,” said Mike Walker, global product manager at adidas North America. “They have a distinctive look with a dark top, a band and red throughout the bottom half. Not only does this give a nod to the Chicago Fire Department, but it’s also a very iconic element of the city itself. We also thought it was so compelling to see the light blue color of the Chicago flag represented so powerfully across the front band of the kit.”

'What we wanted to do with this design was honor the Club’s past and its distinctive ties to the city, but also embrace the Fire’s forward movement with new, exciting features that represent the future and the progressive direction of the organization,' CEO Atul Khosla went on to say."

Since joining the league in 1997 the Fire's home uniform has always had a bit of blue in the predominantly red shirt but never to this extent.

The club will be hoping that it is the shirt that Mike Magee and co. will be wearing on their way to becoming MLS Cup champions.
