Manchester United defender Michael Keane is set for a loan move to Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers, reports The Daily Star

Rovers are struggling defensively and Gary Bowyer is in need of more competition in his back-line.

Keane's proposed move to the Championship outfit was set to go through last week, however it appears that guaranteed playing time is currently stalling the switch. Blackburn will be hoping to complete the deal to take the player to Ewood Park before this weekend's round of fixtures.

The Manchester United youngster has already spent time away from the Theatre of Dreams this season, having played for Derby County in November.

And now, Keane will be hoping to gain more experience at first team level ahead of next season.

With Nemanja Vidic set to leave at the end of the campaign and uncertainty surrounding the future of Rio Ferdinand, it remains to be seen as to whether Keane will be given a chance under David Moyes next season.
