Spare a thought for Seamus Kane of amateur side Camlough Rovers. Kane took a free-kick recently that not only resulted in derision from the opposition and his teammates, but also became something of a viral hit.

It’s not hard to see why Kane became a minor internet celebrity given how dreadful his effort at goal was, with the set-piece posing far greater danger to the corner flag than it did to the opposing ‘keeper.

Kane, though, has been able to poke fun at himself following the incident - and posted on Facebook that he would be giving up free-kick taking for lent.
