Lionel Messi vomits on the pitch…again

Lionel Messi just can’t seem to stand the rigours of international football, with the Barcelona superstar again seen forcing himself to vomit on the pitch while making an appearance for Argentina.

Messi had to throw-up after only nine minutes of Argentina’s encounter with Romania in Bucharest on Wednesday night - the second time he has done so while representing his country in recent years.

The Barcelona forward had previously felt compelled to vomit during a World Cup qualifier against Bolivia, which Messi attributed to the fact the match was being held at high altitude.

There have also been occasions where the same thing has happened while Messi has been appearing for Barcelona, most notably during the Super Cup against Real Madrid in 2011, but he has moved to allay fears that his on-field sickness is a problem.

“My vomiting has always happened,” he told reporters after the game with Romania. “It happened a few times with Barça. It's nothing to me.”

Messi, meanwhile, endured a frustrating evening all-round in the Romanian capital as he was unable to unlock a resolute opposition defence as the game ended in a goalless draw.
