Manchester United boss David Moyes is interested in signing former Chelsea centre-back Alex.

The Daily Mail suggest Moyes is looking at the 31-year-old central defender to replace the outgoing Nemanja Vidic.

Moyes wants an experienced head to replace Vidic as he already has younger options in the form of Manchester United duo Chris Smalling and Phil Jones at his disposal.

The Manchester United boss is also expected to lose Vidic's fellow centre-back Rio Ferdinand in the summer as the Englishman's current deal expires at the end of the season.

Alex, who spent five years at Chelsea before moving to Paris in 2012, could be tempted into making a return to the Premier League.

The Brazilian defender would be available on a free transfer as he is yet to sign a contract extension with Laurent Blanc's side.

PSG would be losing a vital cog in their side if Alex was to leave the club for Manchester United, as the former Chelsea defender is a first-team regular at Parc des Princes.
