Darrelle Revis has been the talk of much debate and rumour in this off season and it won't be stopping anytime soon it seems.

It was reported yesterday that the Pro Bowl corner could be cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if they fail to find a willing trade partner for the 28-year old. Well it appears that there are plenty of teams lying in wait to get their crack at 'Revis Island.'

According to a tweet from ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots could well be a team to watch out for in the hunt for the shutdown corner.

The deal would make sense on the part of the Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick.

The Pats are fighting with their current number one corner Aqib Talib who wants a big contract if he is to remain in Foxboro. If they could bring Revis using money saved from the release of Talib then that would be a serious upgrade in their coverage game.

It is believed the Bucs will release Revis before 4 p.m  on Wednesday because of a clause in the deal that saw Revis arrive from New York Jets in 2013.

If Revis is still on the Buccaneers roster after that time tomorrow then a fourth round pick in this years draft automatically becomes a third rounder and the Bucs don't want to lose such a valuable pick on a player who won't even be with the franchise next season.

Revis was the best corner in the whole league last year according to Pro Football Focus. His +18.2 grade in 2013 was the best of all CB's and that's after his massive ACL injury.
